How To Keep Positive Thoughts In The Greatest Crisis


Napoleon Hill said, “Every adversity, every failure, and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.” The key to this is, what we are thinking about. Are we focused on the failure, heartache, and adversity or are we focusing on what’s to come and how we can improve our situation?

Keep Positive Thoughts Through Focus

Focus on the good, on where you want your life to be. Don’t allow the negative thoughts of the past to creep into your brain. As George Bernard Shaw said “Life isn’t about finding yourself. It’s about creating yourself”. Raise yourself to a higher level and through that improving the people you associate with and humanity in general.

Control Your Subconscious

Many say that our subconscious mind is like a garden. We feed it, through our thoughts, and it grows whatever is there. If your subconscious is full of negative thoughts, it will grow more of the same.

Imagine a garden overrun with unsightly weeds. That is your subconscious mind being feed by your negative thoughts. Now concentrate on a garden filled with beautiful spring flowers, flowers of every color and vibrant with life. Visualize them swaying in the afternoon breeze and the sun shining down on you and the garden.

That’s your subconscious mind being feed by positive thoughts. It is our choice as to what we will think about. When you reflect on the past, do you choose to think of hurt and regret or do you remember the good times, the laughter, and the exhilaration of life.

Choose What To Fill Your Mind With

It’s your choice, what will you choose to fill your mind with? Shakespeare said “There is nothing good or bad, only thinking makes it so.”

Profound, isn’t it? By changing your thoughts you can change your outlook and how you feel and, more importantly, what the outcome will be. Take a moment right now and close your eyes and reflect on three or four of the happiest times in your life. I am sure that no matter how bad you think your life is, right now, you can think of a few happy times.

Let’s concentrate on those events for just a few moments, close your eyes and see the beautiful day on the beach, the birth of a child or grandchild, graduation or your wedding day.

To quote Napoleon Hill once more, “Ten percent of your attitude is determined by what life hands you and ninety percent by how you choose to respond.”

Use The Feedback Loop Within

By keeping positive thoughts in our brain, we will be feeding our subconscious mind the same positive thoughts and grow a beautiful garden. Within a short time your reactions to life will start to be positive. Before you would react in a negative way, you will now see the positive in many more situations. Look for the good in everything. It may not be right on the surface you may have to dig a little but usually it’s there.

By training yourself to think positive thoughts and to reflect on the good in your life, it will soon become second nature…
